Level 6: Full-Arch Fixed Prostheses

Level 6 Outline

Utilizing procedure-based education*, this level will empower clinicians with the full scope of implant possibilities by focusing on the nuances and details necessary to successfully plan and treat full-arch fixed (all-on-x) cases.

Throughout this level, the courses cover topics including:

  • Space-related constraints and considerations for different types of full-arch prostheses
  • Principles of density, dimension, distribution, and display to organize implant placement, number, and location
  • The "Rules of 10" for a successful implant-supported or implant-retained mandibular prosthesis
  • Loading protocols for the full-arch based on initial primary stability
  • Immediate placement and provisionalization of a full-arch maxilla from a digital and analog perspective

At the completion of this level, participants will have a better understanding of treating an edentulous arch with a full-arch fixed implant restoration. Participants are encouraged to continue their education in Level 7, which focuses on regeneration, including advanced grafting principles and techniques.

*The implant curriculum is an interactive, procedure-based series of courses that uses individual cases to teach current implant treatment. This approach is in contrast to conventional dental education that focuses more on didactic topics and theory. The purpose of using this educational approach is to highlight the patients and procedures found in everyday clinical practice, where the most important concepts are observed and discussed in multiple clinical scenarios.

Understand the restorative workflows to restore full-arch implant patients
Identify key considerations for full-arch maxilla and mandible treatment planning
Recognize the roles of immediate placement and immediate provisionalization in the full-arch case

Course Topics

Part I: Implant Therapy for the Edentulous Patient: Contemporary Workflow & Treatment Options

With Lyndon Cooper, DDS, PhD

This course focuses on treatment principles and current technologies that assist the clinician in achieving success with patients missing their mandibular or maxillary teeth.

Key topics highlighted in this course include:

  • Space-related constraints and considerations for different types of full-arch prostheses
  • Principles of density, dimension, distribution, and display to organize implant placement, number, and location
  • Loading protocols for the full arch based on initial primary stability

Part II: Immediate Placement / Immediate Provisionalization in the Maxilla

With Mark Ludlow, DMD, MS

This course will explore the full application of digital technology in the implant patient from initial diagnostics to the final restoration and will innumerate the planning principles involved in achieving both surgical and prosthetic success for a full-arch maxilla.

Key topics highlighted in this case include:

  • Patient-centric approaches to full-arch implant therapy
  • A full-arch digital implant workflow
  • Immediate placement and provisionalization of a full-arch maxilla from a digital and analog perspective
