EDDY® irrigation tip

Thoroughly irrigating the entire root canal system – including isthmi and lateral canals – is an important step within the endodontic treatment process. It’s as crucial for the long-term success as challenging: the sensitive dentin structure needs careful handling, and the deeper areas of the roots are difficult to reach.

Made from a flexible polymer material, EDDY can easily go round curves, maintaining the integrity of the root canal anatomy. With vibration of 5,400 to 6,600 Hz, it creates a three-dimensional movement for an effective oscillation that triggers two cleaning effects: cavitation and acoustic streaming.

Why choose Eddy irrigation tips?

Reliable
  • Reliable removal of residual tissue and dentin chips
  • Closer approximation to the apex than a metal tip
  • Forgiving material with low risk of fracturing the tip or damaging the dentin
Proven1
  • Helps to remove debris and reach areas difficult to clean
  • EDDY tips activated by a sonic airscaler perform similar to ultrasonics based on ex-vivo testing.
3D movement
  • Three-dimensional movement for irrigant activation
  • Extended reach through oscillation
  • Physical effects intensify cleaning performance
Compatible

The tip is compatible with many airscalers.

Shaping

Quality canal shaping is an essential step that allows proper irrigation and correct canal obturation. Whether you are looking for a short reciprocating sequence, rotary files providing deep shape or a solution that helps you safeguarding the natural anatomy, our treatment solutions will suit your goals, supported by our latest generations of motors and apex locators.

Cleaning

35% or more of canal surfaces are left untouched after instrumentation. Yet the long-term success of a root canal treatment depends on a clean canal.3 Activating irrigant solution produces a surface with more opened dentinal tubules, providing better obturation of lateral and accessory canals.4 Our advanced cleaning tools can support you in achieving deep cleaning and disinfection of the root canals.

Obturation

Obturation creates the hermetical (fluid-tight) seal that prevents bacteria that resides in the oral cavity from entering into the periarticular tissue. At Dentsply Sirona, we deliver obturation solutions as part of our endodontic treatment workflows, helping deliver healthy, long-term outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

EDDY is a sterile single-use product and is not reusable.

One size fits all. Due to its high flexibility, EDDY fits almost every canal anatomy.

Please find all compatible airscalers and coupling components here.

Care must be taken to ensure that EDDY is inserted into the root canal only up to 1 mm short of the apex to reduce the risk of damaging the apex area / bleeding and of extrusion of irrigant beyond the apex.

Only use irrigation solutions commonly used in endodontics to irrigate the root canal, e.g. EDTA 17 % or NaOCl solution [5.25% max].

The frequency of the air scaler should be comprised between 5,400 and 6,600 Hz [Air supply according to air scaler IFU].

What dentists are saying about EDDY

“If you compare the activation of irrigants with EDDY to other activation techniques, it is evident that EDDY triggers a cyclone.”

Dr. Mauro Amato, Switzerland

“After just a few seconds of using EDDY there is no debris visible on the entire root canal wall and NaOCI seems to work better.”

Dr. Vittorio Franco, England and Italy
