The speed brake high-tech made in Germany

The Dentsply Sirona speed brake ensures that the idling speed of a dental turbine is limited, without having a tangible impact on the turbine's performance.

To do this, the turbine is connected to a compressed air supply. This creates an impelling air current in the turbine which is accelerated in a nozzle and carried to the turbine's rotor. The rotor is accelerated and propels the drill. A turbine has an idling speed of up to 450,000 rpm; in the working range, on the other hand, the speed is between 200,000 and 250,000 rpm. The rotating rotor creates a ring-shaped brake air current above. This is diverted downward to the brake contour and flows onto the rotor which is open at the top — as such it is braked as a function of the brake air current.
