This combined course integrates the learning outcomes of CBCT Level 1 (core training) and Level 2 (justification and image interpretation training) into a single comprehensive program. Over the course of 2 days, delegates will gain a deep understanding of CBCT technology, radiation protection guidelines, and its clinical application. Participants will build foundational knowledge and develop practical skills in reporting and referring CBCT scans, enabling them to confidently operate within the IRMER Referrer, Operator, and Reporter roles.
LEARNING CONTENT
Introduction to CBCT technology and its application in dental practice.
Overview of current CBCT guidelines and regulations
Comprehensive understanding of radiation dosages and patient safety considerations.
Recognition of normal 3D CBCT anatomy and common pathologies within the Field of View (FOV).
Detailed reporting of small volume CBCT scans and when to refer for specialist radiological opinion.
Case-based learning with up to 6 CBCT scan evaluations under expert guidance.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
1. IRMER Referrer and Practitioner Roles:
- Safely justify the use of CBCT imaging for patients, adhering to IRMER guidelines.
- Understand the relevant legislation governing radiation protection in CBCT use.
2. CBCT Reporting and Interpretation:
- Develop skills in identifying normal anatomy and diagnosing pathologies in small volume CBCT scans
- Confidently structure CBCT reports within the Reporter role.
- Build competence in referring small volume CBCTs for specialist opinions.
3. Advanced Topics in CBCT:
- Engage in a didactic session on bone diseases presented by Lee Feinberg.
- Address complex clinical questions and enhance confidence through interactive case discussions.
