Our Investigator Initiated Program - building a research portfolio together

As a leader in the dental industry, we are committed to extensive and sound research and documentation of product performance, efficacy and safety.

An important part of our clinical research program is the Investigator Initiated Studies, in which Dentsply Sirona supports external research projects. As part of the program, a large number of projects have been initiated and conducted by clinicians from different countries all over the world to investigate a variety of products and indications.

Each year a large number of applications are submitted to us and approximately 40% are approved for support. Currently more than 150 supported Investigator Initiated Studies are ongoing involving more than 300 investigators in over 20 countries. Will your project be the next to qualify?

The IIS Program

Research support

The objectives of the studies are determined by your own research interest. Today the studies include a variety of clinical and experimental research areas. The studies are conducted as, for example:

  • Prospective clinical trials
  • Case series
  • In-vitro assays
  • Mechanical studies 
Forms for application

Quick admission process

We have an ongoing admission process throughout the year. 

  • Application for support is done by submitting the application form.
  • All proposals are reviewed by our Global IIS Review Committee.
  • Applicants will get an answer within eight weeks.
How to apply

IIS Travel grant

All IIS investigators are invited to apply for Dentsply Sirona's IIS travel grant. If an abstract from your Investigator Initiated Study is accepted for a poster or an oral presentation at an international congress you are welcome to apply for a travel grant up to:

  • EUR 1 000, intracontinental travels
  • EUR 2 000, intercontinental travels

Requirements

The poster/oral presentation must be accepted for presentation at an international congress, which has a review process for abstract submission.

  • The study must have a Dentsply Sirona IIS reference number. 
  • The poster/oral presentation must be in English.
  • Application must be submitted to us no later than the first day of the congress. 

Costs covered

For intracontinental travels we can support up to EUR 1 000, and for intercontinental travels up to EUR 2 000. The travel grant can cover costs for:

  • Congress registration
  • Accommodation 
  • Transport to/from the congress

Limitations

Each study and investigator is only eligible for one travel grant per congress.

  • Travel grants will not be approved retrospectively.
  • National regulations might limit our possibility to support.
