Difficulties of a lock slide – the challenge of filigree components

When developing and producing dental instruments it is often the minuscule technical details which are all-important. The lock slide is a good example of just how important it is to pay attention to the smallest of details to achieve optimal results.

The lock slide is an important stabilizing component which is used inside the clamping system of a contra-angle drill. It secures the drill in an axial direction and can be moved sideways with the pressure lid by pressing against the spring force of the spring washer to allow the drill to be removed. 

Dentsply Sirona customers require the smallest treatment heads. The challenge here is to produce a lock slide with a filigree construction that is also able to withstand all loads. Only few materials are capable of this. The design of the component must therefore be precise and its material must be very exact. The lock slide must meet all tolerance specifications in the production stage.
