When employing a complete in-office digital workflow, it is critical to understand the design parameters and key steps to maximize both quality and efficiency. In this course, we will cover the technical elements for crown and onlay design, based on the material characteristics and the preparation details. In addition, the milling parameters for the completed restoration will be highlighted. As a final step before placement, the available in-office options for custom staining and glazing will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the process of designing an anatomically correct restoration with proper interproximal contacts and occlusion
  • Apply the critical parameters for the inner restoration surface, with a special emphasis on creating a “die-space” width for the best accuracy
  • Define and apply delineation of the restoration’s marginal area
  • Summarize the design parameters that are determined by CAD/CAM machine tool paths
