inLab CAD/CAM Materials Function & Esthetics

Form follows function – this dictum originates from architecture and design, but it is just as true for dental prostheses. But here the shape – particularly in the anterior tooth region – is of primordial importance for the esthetic result. Both requirements are satisfied in full by Dentsply Sirona with its inLab CAD SW, inLab materials and the inLab MC X5 and inLab MC XL production units. With these, it is possible to make customized restorations for all permanent prosthetic tasks with high patient satisfaction.

Material Types

Feldspar ceramics

The CEREC Blocs C, CEREC Blocs PC and CEREC Blocs C In consist of a finely structured feldspar ceramic material which is biocompatible and resembles natural tooth enamel with regard to shading, strength and abrasion resistance. Thanks to the outstandingly fine structures and the sophisticated manufacturing process, restorations made of these materials can be placed immediately after milling and polishing.

Zirconium oxide

Zirconium oxide is a high-performance ceramic, which has established itself in dental applications as digital dental production technologies become ever more widely accepted. The frameworks of partly sintered ceramic are milled oversized and shrink to their final size during the sintering process. At the same time, they assume their desired properties, such as high density, mechanical strength and perfect fit.

Dentsply Sirona currently offers this material in three different variants.

Cobalt-chromium alloy

The majority of all restorations fabricated around the world are still made of non-precious metal (NPM). So it goes without saying that these materials can also be worked without difficulty with CAD/CAM support. Here too, inLab offers you a clean, high-quality alternative to the conventional cast metal process.

Mock-ups/Temporary prostheses

The practice of making mock-ups as "prototypes" for high-quality restorations is gaining in popularity. Made from plastic (polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)), these are presented to the patients to show them what the prosthesis will look like later and give them a "first taste" – they are strong enough to withstand even possible uncontrolled jaw movements without damage. But our plastic, which we offer under the name Dentsply Sirona PMMA, can also be used for (long-term) temporary prostheses.
