The paralleling technique and the sensor holder system
The paralleling technique is now standard for intraoral X-ray diagnostics. Its diagnostic advantages are clinically proven. The paralleling technique requires holders that align the sensor at a right angle to the central beam and thus parallel to the tooth axis.
Many sensor holder systems surround the sensor. This means the complete device placed in the patient’s mouth is longer and wider than the sensor itself and therefore makes positioning difficult. The solution from Dentsply Sirona is clever yet simple: A thin self-adhesive disposable holder, which is smaller than the sensor, results in greater patient comfort and ideally positioned images of the highest quality.

Correct positioning of the Xios XG supreme sensors
We have been working in our practice with the digital Xios imaging technology from Dentsply Sirona for the past 10 years. We have followed and utilized the ongoing improvements to sensors. The most recent innovation with Xios XG Supreme represents a significant improvement in terms of image sharpness and contrast in particular and enables more accurate diagnoses.
