Attendees will gain further insights into the underlying science and clinical applications of periodontal disease classification through this interactive workshop designed to practice staging and grading in common clinical scenarios. This program will address how to incorporate the periodontal disease classification into real-world dental practice, using the cases presented, audience feedback, and Q&A. Finally, this program will discuss best practices for calibration of the dental team using the 2017 AAP/EFP WWDC as a communication tool to optimize patient understanding, care, and outcomes of treatment
COURSE OBJECTIVES
After attending this course, the participant will:
● Articulate challenges to the delivery of individualized patient assessment and care of periodontitis within the dental practice.
● Identify potential pitfalls for the implementation of the 2017 AAP/EFP WWDC in clinical dental practice and how they can be overcome.
● Describe the utility of calibration with regard to the classification system within the dental team to optimize patient well-being.
