Gates Glidden Drills widen and taper the root canal orifice. They are designed for bulk removal of tooth structure, delivering high-cutting capability and easy application. The low-price Glidden drills are an economical alternative to rotary nickel-titanium files.

Featuring a blunt tip to prevent perforation, they use a brushing motion to achieve the desired shape. The drill bits are compatible with any right-angle latch handpiece and typically come in lengths of 28 mm, 32 mm, or 38 mm. A range of six sizes allow the clinician to sequentially use the drills to achieve the appropriate taper and avoid excessive dentin removal.

Lexicon Gates Glidden Drills

Lexicon is a name you can trust for endodontic innovation, convenience, and service. The Lexicon Gates Glidden Drill Can be used in any right-angle handpiece to enlarge the coronal portion of the canal for bulk removal of tooth structure. This endodontic instrument features a blunt, non-cutting tip and stainless-steel construction.

The Gates Gliddens are ISO color-coded to indicate cutting diameter and notched for easy size identification. Available in lengths 28 mm (short) and 32 mm (standard), sizes range from 1-6 with a 2% taper. The drills are sold in packs of six.

X-Gates Drill

The Endo Access Kit X-Gates Drill has a modified head that replaces Gates Glidden sizes #1 to #4 with just one device. The X-Gates Drill is ideal for radicular access, with the burs sequentially stacked on the active portion of the head to create a funnel-shaped form.

The X-Gates is rotated at a slow speed of 500-750 rpm and is used like a brush to cut dentin with its lateral surfaces or belly on the outstroke. The X-Gates may be used to initially open, flare, and smoothly blend the canal orifice to the axial walls. The device also removes internal triangles of dentin and intentionally relocates the coronal-most portion of a canal away from furcal danger. 

The X-Gates Drill is part of the Complete Endo Access Kit.
