Attachments are small tooth-colored structures that are bonded to teeth using dental composites. They help aligners grip the teeth and guide them to their new locations.

Ceram.x Spectra® ST universal composite is an excellent option to give your clear aligner patients bonded attachments that are durable, look natural and resist staining. For best durability, universal composites are recommended over flowable composites.

Bonded attachments with Ceram.x Spectra® ST universal composite restorative for SureSmile® Clear Aligners

1. Prepare teeth and apply adhesive

Isolate with cheek retractors
Polish teeth with fluoride free pumice
Rinse and dry teeth
Apply DeTrey® Conditioner 36 for 30 seconds
Apply suction, rinse and dry
Apply Prime&Bond active adhesive and agitate for 20 seconds.
Air dry for 5 seconds
Light cure for 10 seconds

2. Prepare attachment tray

Fill the attachment template with Ceram.x Spectra® ST composite.
Compules® Tips are recommended for precise and easy placement.

3. Clean extra composite

Remove flash prior to bond to reduce chair time.

4. Place tray

The tray filled with composite is placed in patient’s mouth.
Light pressure should be applied to each composite attachment to ensure adhesion.

5. Light cure each attachment

Light cure with SmartLite® Pro Modular LED Curing Light for 10 seconds.
Make sure light is centered over attachment

6. Check for flash

Use a UV or black light to easily identify flash

7. Finish and Polish

Remove flash and create a smooth surface with Enhance® Finishing and Polishing System points.

8. Finished Results

Bonded attachments with Ceram.x Spectra® ST composite blend well with surrounding tooth structure.
To remove attachment, use esthetic trimming and finishing carbide burs.
